About The Program

Warm-A-Child holds a special place at Ministries of Christ. Our founders, Bishop Alexander and Pastor Gail Alexander, restarted it in honor of a ministry they supported during the 80s called Shared the Faith. Share the Faith was started by Bishop Alexander’s late brother, Rev. Ray Alexander. Rev. Ray was a former inmate and understood firsthand how difficult it could be on children when a parent was behind bars. So, under Rev. Ray’s direction, Share the Faith started Warm-A-Child as a way for the children of inmates to receive much needed coats during winter while their fathers were incarcerated.

Today, we continue the Warm-A-Child program at Ministries of Christ and in recent years have partnered with Dismas Charities in Portland to give coats away annually to the children of inmates. This is part of our commitment to visit those in prison and share God’s love by meeting people’s everyday needs. To date, Warm-A-Child has delivered hundreds of coats and we look forward to continuing that important work.
