What is My Purpose?

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)

Today's Thought

God is all omniscient (all knowing), omnipotent (all powerful), omnipresent (everywhere at the same time). Nothing can happen without God permitting it. God has numbered our days and will fulfill every purpose He has for us. Psalm 57:2 says, “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me”. While this is true, our choices and actions have an impact on our lives as well. If you wake up each day with a feeling of dread or apathy, then you are probably not doing what you were meant to do. God has uniquely created you and has a joyful life planned for you. Yes, there are times when you will encounter situations that require patience and perseverance, but overall your days should be filled with joy and excitement. God’s plan is that you live a life of fulfillment, which comes from doing things that are rewarding, purposeful, and meaningful. That can come from your job that uses your passion and skills, relationships that involve giving and receiving, or hobbies that invigorate you. When you are walking in purpose, you will feel energized.

Take a moment to look in the mirror and ask yourself: "Am I just wandering from point A to point B with no clear direction or forward progress? Do I feel a sense of aimlessness? Do I have any specific goals that I'm working toward?" Your answer to these questions can shape your future. I encourage you to pray and ask God to show you His purpose for your life. Begin to seek His voice and as your heart’s desires begin to align with God’s will, allow His spirit to direct your path.
